The Council's newest committee has been formed to address the concern for families in our community. To build a strong community, strong families must be fostered. Highlighting character in the classroom, on the job, and through the media reinforces positive character in families.
The Character Council is excited about offering its special "family seminars" in the Tuscaloosa Community. The Character First! Family Seminar is designed to help families be successful in all aspects of life. It provides unique training and practical resources based on forty-nine specific character qualities for communities and families.
Lasting solutions to family struggles come when family members exhibit character qualities such as Obedience, Sensitivity, and Forgiveness. Through emphasizing, requiring, and recognizing positive character qualities such as these, parents/caregivers can encourage their children to achieve true success.
The Council plans to make these seminars available to all families in our community including those who cannot afford the cost. A successful family seminar was held for the parents of students who attend the Bethel Community School. It was well received by the parents, and follow-up training sessions have been requested. Keeping parents "on track" as they build character in their families is primary and necessary to the betterment of family dynamics.
The Tuscaloosa Character Council is reaching out to the Hispanic community. Family seminars have been conducted in the native language of participants -- Spanish. Plans are to conduct more of these sessions during the summer months.
